The emoji hack which is present in a number of applications is to be pulled from the app store.

New App Store Policy:

1. All new apps related to emoji will be rejected in the review process.

2. Existing apps that do not provide additional functionality will be pulled from the App Store (e.g. Emotifun, iEmoji pulled already).

3. Existing apps that DO provide additional functionality (e.g. Typing Genius) will be required to provide an update to Apple immediately.

Silly me! Thanks so much!!!

Do they all have the same emojis or does one app have more cute icons than the other? ;)

they simply enable emoji on the handset, iphone emoji will be the same, no matter how they are enabled.

I'm getting sick of apple telling me stuff I can't have. emoji icons, sirius radio on my iPhone. What's next? I'm not allowed to make calls on the thing? Why is it ok for Japan to have emoji but American people can't text little pics, if AT&T's network can't handle the data they shouldn't have signed the frakin contract with them. AT&T better hope Verizon doesn't get the iPhone, if it does, the 1st day I will pay the cancelation fee and switch carriers.

Emoji sucks. The end?

> There ya go. Truth be told. No more Japanese garbage.
Whatever anyone's personal thoughts on them are, is that really a reason for them to come down so hard on those that do want to use them? If you don't like Emoji, it's simple- don't use them. It's not like any of these apps kick down your door and tatoo Emoji all over your face, even with the apps you have to make an active effort to enable and use them- so if you don't like them, don't bother with it. There's plenty of people who do want them, and since they're inherently part of the system to start with (all iPhones can display Emoji irrelevant of if they're enable to enter them...), Apple's fighting against them so hard just seems petty and stupid.

It just seems like the whole iPhone is a DRM'd device, like I don't even own it but am just renting it. Seems to me I should be able to do anything I want on it, but I can't. Sure, Apple is the only company with an App Store, but I have also never heard of a cellphone maker remove features either. Maybe it's time for me to rethink jailbreaking....

Initially I thought the Emoji were stupid Japanese garbage too. But, having been using them for the last month, my wife and I love them. We use them on a daily basis. They're really fun, actually. If Apple removes these from my phone with a firmware update and an Android phone (or the Pre) comes to AT&T, bye bye iPhone.
