iPhone Emojis are all alien faces now

ok
an "I told you so" is in order, I went to upgrade the app emoji 8.3+ and it errored out (shown in pic attachment)
any idea on how to fix this, oh and now some apps are force closing such as facebook and whatsapp

Yea, I can't even uninstall or upgrade. All the apps were crashing and some icons on home screen were missing so I was forced to update to 8.3 to get my phone back.

You have to download a 54 MB JPG file and follow some other instructions in one of the side bars on that repo.
I followed the instructions there and got everything working just great.
I attached a photo of their instructions. Follow that and all works well.
