I have had many iphones in the past and always jailbroke them. One of the tweaks I installed let you switch between the db meter and bars if you tapped the wifi bars. I got a new job and a totally new iphone 6+ which I restored from an icloud backup. The 6+ was never jailbroken yet I still have the wifi db meter tweak somehow. My coworkers would like to have it too, yet I can't find a way to do it. All the guides I can find will show how to do it for cellular, but not wifi.

Certain hacks get stored in the backup. I remember this from a few years back when I was with orange. It would display orange uk which bugged me so I changed it to display nothing. When the 4 came out I dumped the jb but restored the backup and the hack followed over.

You do it in Field Test mode. Pasting from an online article :

First, you'll need to access a hidden app on your phone called Field Test Mode. To do this, you'll need to open up your Phone app and dial the following number, *3001#12345#* , including the asterisks and hashtag, and tap "Call."

To exit: instead of using the home button to exit, hold down your iPhone's power/sleep button until it shows the "Slide to power off" screen and then hold the down your iPhone's home button, which will force quit Field Test App.

At this point you should be able to toggle between dBs and dots by tapping the display there. All this works on my iPhone 4s on 8.0.3.

I believe that's only for cellular, not WiFi (I'm not sure there is anything like that for WiFi without a jailbreak tweak of some sort perhaps).

That is how you do it for the Cellular, not wifi.

Yep, my bad! Glad you caught the WiFi part that I read right past. I can get WiFi signal strength with several Android apps, but have read that Apple prevents developers from accessing the WiFi radio data. I don't play in the jailbreak world, so don't know if developers have a back door path to that data or not.
