Guys and Gals,

I successfully converted my old iMac (2010 21.5 inch) from a slow laggy 7200 rpm seagate barracuda drive to a new SSD drive. The computer operates like new...

I wanted to know if anyone knows of an enclosure I can get to convert the old HD into an external HD... I have not been having much luck finding one online...

Yeah I can see that. I thought the HDs in the iMacs were 3.5 inches...

I assumed it was the 2.5

In that case then search on the Ali Express website for the correct one hopefully to match your budget and pick the one with greatest positive reviews.

And if it’s for the bigger 3.5 inch then it means it also needs to come with a separate power supply.

You can find perfectly good external 3.5" enclosures on Amazon for the same price. Just search and grab one with good reviews. Not sure why you would use Ali Express...

Better yet - throw away the 7200 Sea Gate it has paid it's dues and it's ready for retirement - get a new 1tb portable drive like this Western Digital $48.93 or similar

it's not worth buying an enclosure for the old drive - put that money into a new spare external !

If you have a 2.5 inch drive you can also put it into an enclosure designed for a 3.5 inch drive via an cheap adapter for the 2.5 inch drive. Found on amazon etc
