After much fence sitting, I decided to cancel an order that I had placed for a base 21.5", after considering the new 27". The only reason I wanted to upgrade my 2009 24" is because I wanted video input, the led screen & SD slot. The problem with the new iMac is that my MBP is a 2010 model, so it wont work with the new 27" target display mode.

In reality, my 2009 24" c2d 2.66 is fast enough, has a 1tb hd & 4gb of ram... So im not getting much more with the refurb 27" besides the 3 things listed above, but the price in the refurb store is killer - $1049 (!).

Im kinda wishing I could get the new machine, with its shiny quad core processor and GPUs, but it would defeat my only purpose for upgrading.

So which one are you getting?

SD card readers are $10, and the 21.5, 24 and 27 all have IPS screens, the CCFL vs LED is kinda up for debate, but both produce good color

but dont be fooled by the GHZ myth -- a 2.66 Core2Duo ≠ a 2.5 GHZ i5 processor.

so getting something newer gives you a lot more than just the things you mentioned.

2009 late 27"

Ill return if apple announces some sort of firmware or a 3rd party makes using a non tb laptop possible for target display mode
