Is anyone else sick of all these juvenile apps?????? Softserve being the latest.... now we can make our phone poo???? come on.. how they can approve some of these apps, and deny others, is beyond me!!

Yeah, the App Store is mostly a joke. Then the good apps get buried while the fart apps rein supreme!
I agree, which is why I've given up browsing the App Store and instead read the forum for recommendations to look up.
who cares if there are juvenile apps. just download the ones you want. just because you dont like an app and think its juvenile doesnt mean other people wont enjoy it. everyone has different tastes. dont forget there are kids in elementary school with ipod touches who like to get apps also. its just like the internet, there are millions of useless juvenile websites but you dont have to visit them if you dont want to.
I'm not going to hold the fact that *stupid* apps like ifart apps exist against anyone, I just wish Apple would make it easier to find the good stuff. The $19.99 premium section would be a great place to start. But until then I do pretty good by using various other tools such as appvee and pocketgamer, and just my own smarts pitted against the farts in the appstore arena. It may be easier without those apps there in the first place, but it certainly isn't affecting me substantially in the end.
yes they definitely need a new way to search for apps and to organize them better. i usually find my apps on my computer looking at websites that tell you about new apps and reviews of them and then go on the appstore and type in the name and download it. its rare that i just search for random things in the appstore since they have a lot of things to fix.
Apple should not have gotten rid of that option. With that said I am happy for whoever owns appshopper.com because his/their site is getting a ton of hits because of it. So apple, by taking the feature away, is sharing the wealth because I am sure the people at appshopper as well as others are making a good living by giving us what apple took away.

This is not a proven fact. We actually do not have all the numbers - no one does. Yes, in the not too distant past, a fart app was within the top 3 best-selling apps. This was right after it came out - months ago. Now that the novelty has worn off, I wonder where it is now? Additionally, there are well over 50 fart apps. They can't all be selling well.
The notion that the market dictates the apps is a fallacy. This is because we don't know the market. Do you really think Joe Blow developer in his bedroom knows what the fart/poo/pee/vomit/body fluid market is? They have no clue. They do know that making apps is like playing the lottery; you never know, you may strike gold. So, they take 5 minutes out of their day to develop some stupid fart app. You never know, it may make you a few thousand bucks, but if not, nothing lost. People are viewing iPhone apps as get-rich-quick schemes. This is why we see so much junk - it has little to do with the market.
Are they? We have only been given a few reports about app numbers sold and profit. One of which was a fart app, yes. Beyond that, we really don't know.
Usually, in a market place, if something is not selling well, it is pulled off the market and/or the business fails. Have we seen apps being pulled off the App Store due to poor sales? Have we seen developers close up shop due to poor sales? These are questions we'll never really know because most app developers are amateur (its not their day job) and no apps are ever pulled off the store (well, some, but usually for other reasons) - they just clutter up.
What's going to happen when the App Store is so big that it's almost impossible to find the really good apps? I hate it when I do a search and completely unrelated apps are shown to me, so then I have to click through 10 screens or know the app's exact name.
