Entertainment only from the Apple TV

Is there anyone who only gets their entertainment only from the content available through Apple TV (i.e., iTunes rentals, Netflix, YouTube, streaming from your iTunes library)?

I have given up on finding an indoor OTA. I tried Roku for Hulu+, but I don't care for the interface.

I find myself more often than not disgusted by the availability of shows that I find interesting at any given time. For example, I'm an early riser on Saturday mornings and there are so many infomercials on. I interrupt the airing of commercials by insisting on a few minutes of content.

There are only about 5 shows that I sit down with a plan to watch, which can be rented. One I have been buying. Most of the "background" noise shows I am drawn to are available on Netflix.

if it wasn't for sports i would cut my cable all together. I only watch sportscenter nfl , nba games, supernatural & smallville.. the shows i can watch from itunes.. so my apple tv2 gets a lot of work...

ESPN and a handful of other channels are why I have held on this long.

I am viewing everything through my ATv2, but you might say I'm cheating. I record over the air with EyeTV on my iMac, then export those shows to iTunes for streaming to my ATv. Really, the vast majority of what I watch is coming from Netflix though. Every now and then, I'll get a bad recording on EyeTV (I think it may be weather related). In those cases I usually just rent that episode through iTunes.

I was never able to find an indoor antenna that worked for me, but I have an attic mounted antenna that does a good (not perfect) job. The antenna was actually installed when my home was built - around 1972, so it's possible that I could do better by replacing it with a newer antenna. It's basically the same type of antenna that you would mount on the roof, just installed inside. IIRC, an attic mount reduces the available signal by about half.

What do you mean by saying you've given up on finding an indoor OTA? Just get the Terk HDTVa. It's available in most places, works excellent, and is about $30-40. If you can find the non amplified version get that since it's cheaper and you don't need amplification with digital channels. Available at Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, etc.

I've tried more indoor antennas than I can count and they don't pick up any signals where I live. The tv in the living room doesn't get anything and the tv in the bedroom that is on a wall in between 2 windows only got one channel, albeit an awesome picture. I'm in a partially subterranean condo that is surrounded by trees.

IMO, amplified indoor antennas are mostly useless (nearly in the same category as the mega-buck speaker cables). YMMV, but over the years I've tried a few different models at several different locations and none have done any good (some work no better than a simple, disconnected coax cable).

As far as the Apple TV, that and Netflix are about all I watch. I don't even get broadcast TV (no cable and no OTA). Day-to-day, I watch mostly podcasts -- the NBC Evening News and several tech shows. About the only cable channel I miss is TCM (Turner Classic Movies) and unfortunately I don't think we will ever see TCM available over the Internet or via an inexpensive subscription service.
