The other dayI found out that my iPhoto, carbon copy cloner, mac the ripper andhandbrake were missing from my computer, They were completely erased. Luckily I had a back up carbon copy of our photos. Can some one explain how this could have happrned? Could it be avirus? I have not had any problems since.

It's not a virus. Were they deleted accidentally or moved to somewhere else on your hard drive?

I cannot be a virus. We go through this thread every two weeks or so.

You haven't changed the shortname on your home folder have you? Otherwise the apps have been moved or erase. Pure and simple.
Have you searched with Spotlight? (the blue magnifying glass in the upper right of your screen)
