I am trying to sync my entourage with ical. When I go under preferences in Entourage 2004 for Mac I don't see a synchronize that I can select. Is it not available in 2004?

In Entourage 2008 this is what I have to do - See if it works in the 2004 edition...

In Entourage select the "Entourage" drop down menu - open "Preferences" then select "Sync Services" there should be a tick box where you can select to "Sychronise events and tasks with iCal and .iMac" if you select this it should do the trick

Hopefully this helps

That should work, I’ve used a similar process in 2004, although I also have the 2008 version now.

thanks

I went through the process and do not see an option for sync' ing, that is why I was wondering if 2004 had that capability. I understand the process of synchronizing, but do not see the option for sync under entourage/preferences/general

Um I don't have it under entourage>preferences>general either its under entourage>preferences>sync services ???

Maybe you should also note that iCal can have multiple calendars but Entourage can only have one as far as I know... So when you sync up you will see an Entourage calendar in iCal, but whatever you have in iCal will remain there - if you want your iCal information to be moved to Entourage you have to export your calendar and then open the file in your finder (It should automatically be opened by Entourage) and will take a couple of mins to update your entourage calendar...

thanks all for your help - I updated the latest version

of entourage 2004 for mac as a last ditch effort and now I have sync'ing as one of the choices under preferences in entourage

My goal was to have my entourage (my primary calendar) be on my iphone. Since entourage is not directly linkable and ical is I wanted to link my entourage to my ical and then my ical to my iphone. (I also have a mobile me account which takes in the same information and am ultimately trying to be as streamline and efficient as possible.

I use Plaxo to sync [and back up] my calendars/contacts etc on various computers/platforms and different bits of software even online calendars. Add something to one calandar or modify a contact and everything you've assigned Plaxo to will also change. It also means if I'm not at one of my computers, I can go online and look at Plaxo's website and find my information in their calendar.
