LoopRumors obtained information from a very reliable source about Microsoft's next revision of its Mac Office X email client, Entourage. Slated for release in late summer, we learned that this will be the client for Macintosh computers accessing Microsoft Exchange Server-based e-mail services, replacing the responsibilities of its retired cousin, Outlook. We also know that Entourage will send and receive return receipts using the standard return receipt protocol now used in Outlook for Windows. Tighter intigration between Apple's iCal, Address Book, and iSync will also be key additions to the next revision of Entourage.
To maintain its stronghold on the Macintosh platform, our source close to the MacBU tells LoopRumors: "Microsoft feels strongly that [they] must take full advantage of all the resources Apple currently has and plans to develop for Mac OS X...so everyone moves in the same direction."
