iOS entrepreneur enrollment as iPhone developer

Hi, I am not a developer myself but I am employing a developer to write apps to my specifications. My concern is that in enrolling as a developer, if I answer the questions truthfully, I will have no relevant experience whatsoever which I imagine could result in me being summarily rejected. Does anyone have any insight on enrollment for non-developers?

Also I have read that it is better (read quicker) to apply as an individual. If I do that then surely any app that is accepted to the app store will be credited to me (even though I didn't develop it personally) rather than a company. Is that right? Any guidance is much appreciated...

Having any experience at all as a developer likely has very little to do with whether or not you can get enrolled (given some of the questions I've seen in the iPhone developer forums).

You do want to try and enroll if you want to sell apps under your own (or your businesses) name, with receipts payable to your (or your businesses) bank account.

If you're designing the app and contracting out for the actual development, then having your name on it in the App Store is completely appropriate. (This depends on how you set up the contract with the developer, of course, but ideally you want to make sure you get all rights to both the app and the source code.)

If you register as an individual the app shows up under your name with the copyright as either you or your company (or whatever you want).
