Okay, epson really neads to get some native osx drivers out it is bloddy annoying having to launch classic all the friggen time just to print ****.

Not happy...

epson has been friendliest to apple over the last couple of years so they should get it together first, followed by hp

i get a lot of tech work with hp problems with apple and epson problems with pcs...usually driver issues

sometimes the websites offer good patches

it will just take some time

Epson Drivers

I have an Epson 1290 with Mac OS X drivers.
Sad thing is while printing Apple Works files it does not print Freehand 10 files (error message every time I try it.) which stops me using OS X.
Has anyone else found this?

epson much friendlier with macs than hp though as i find on my repair jobs

not important for this site, but hp does better with pcs than epson, which is a crapshoot with pcs and driver issues

i am still kind of new as a tech, 2 yrs, and i am not like some supergeeks who simply write their own drivers, which is especially a good skill for self employed NT techs

hey spikey

hey spikey, i am in your once exclusive 300 club!

kela, john123, monkeybusiness, thlaylil, and others will be there soon too so you better go to the 400 club

next year sometime, you might beat hank aaron's record

...and "no", newbies, these posts are not like home runs... i just am wordy and my posts are more like getting hit by the ball than hitting the ball

kela hits line drives to the pitcher's head, spikey hits home runs, and some pc zealots who visit are 'foul ball" hitters...and pretendpcuser was like a "bowling ball"

580 1290

I have three printers,

• Epson 580
• Epson 1290
• Lexmark z22

They all worked in OS X.11, as soon as I plugged them in.

my printer

I have a 740... its old and slow.. but it still works. OS X supports it. Im happy. I grabed it when I got my Rev-A iMac. the 740 was the only USB printer on the market at that time. OS 10.0.4 didnt suport it.. which I was not too happy about.. but 10.1 works fine.

i have a couple of 740s, good solid printers and drivers have worked well on many computers except for the compaq presario 7000 desktops for some reason

thanks akuma and congrats on senior member, after sm, there's not much to look forward to except 200, 300, etc...

Canon BubbleJet 3010

I have a Canon BJ-3010 and there is no indication that Canon will ever release drivers for this printer. That really sucks since I just bought it in January.

I'm thinking that the president of Canon USA may have a BJ-3010 show up at his door with a note on it telling him why I don't want it anymore.

Maybe I'll start up "obsoleteprinters.org" and we can send thousands of pounds of obsolete harware to Canon, Epson and HP executives.

Epson Printers ROCK!

My advise for anybody buying a new printer should ONLY buy Epson (inkjet) They are so much better than the others

I can use my epson 740 in osx byt I need to have 9 running to use it. If you can print with your 740 without 9 then let me know how. I still have 10.1 not 10.1.1 yet

I dont need 9

I dont need 9 to use my 740 in OS X. You just need to set up your printer prefrences. When you try to print... make sure that your printer is turned on. You will be promted with some kind of Printer set up Utillity. Then seclect USB as your interface.. give it a second and it will find the drivers that go with your 740. Then select it. You have to have your printer turned on or it wont register. I didnt know that the first time I tryed to get it to work. My Mac just sat there and didnt give me a list of printers to choose from. I dont remember what the utility is called.... but Im sure if it doesnt come up atomaticly, you can poke arround and find it. I would do it right now.. but im at work on a ... WinBox :(

When I print some thing in 10.1.1... the OS X drivers kick in. When I have classic running... and I print from a Classic app. The OS 9 drivers run.
