Hey everybody, I just bought a used epson v700 and I cannot get my imac 2010 10.8 to recognize the scanner. I have installed the appropriate drivers both from apple and from epson but either way, when i start up my scanning software (epson scan) a popup comes up saying that the computer and scanner cannot communicate. Does anyone out there run a v700 off mountain lion? Is it even possible? Any help would be appreciated, I might have to install a partition with snow leopard on it to work the scanner properly. I know that 10.6 works with v700's...

It might sound like I'm being a jerk but...is the scanner turned on? Epson Scan works well for me with my V300 but it's not the smartest piece of software out there. If I launch it without my scanner already connected, powered up and ready to go, I get the same popup and have to relaunch the program.

If that doesn't work, you might try scanning using Image Capture as well. While it might not have all of Epson Scan's functionality, it'll at least help you narrow down whether your Mac is having trouble communicating with the scanner, or whether the problem lies with Epson Scan.

That just points you back to Apple's Software Update.....

Not just that

You can download Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v3.81 from lower on the page which gives you Epson.app from which you can install the driver and application !
