I need to erase my 2018 13" MBP running OS Ventura 13.4 prior to taking to Apple store for battery replacement. I wish to use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup the HD, but am not sure which destination I should use in CCC.

Do I just save to the external disk? Or use the restore from disk image icon? Any other tips on what I should do?

TIA

Use an external drive.
Erase it to APFS.
Start up CCC.
Put the source (internal drive) "on the left".
Put the destination (external drive) "in the middle".
Ignore the box on the right ("schedule").
Then... let CCC do its thing.
