Hi,

On Beta 3 I'm trying to Erase the Macintosh HD volume and get the following message on Disk Utility:

OBJigc7.jpg

How do I get here? I restart my Mac, press Cmd+R to boot up the Recovery Mode. I enter my password (now it asks for a password). I choose Disk Utility, mount the volumes, click Erase and... there goes the error message.

Anyone has encountered this error and solved it?

Thanks!

So I used my Mojave USB to access disk utility and erase the volumes.

I then restarted from my Catalina Beta 3 USB and reinstalled.

Case closed.

Edit: I had the same problem when trying to erase the volumes through the disk utility on the Catalina Beta 3 USB, that's why I used Mojave's USB.

Same here. I had to use my Mojave pendrive to format.

Even knowing that this is a beta version I think Catalina is too iPadish and unstable. Let's see the final release.

Hey there Arimatheiaotto,

What does your Mac have Touch ID? Mine isn’t working after updating to Beta 3... and now even after downgrading back to Mojave it’s still not working. I’m not sure if this is widespread or just a problem with my Mac.

It's working here. MacBook Pro 15" 2017.
Have you tried to reset the "pram"?
