iPhone Erase unlocked iphone without password

I was given an iphone that was dropped and dead. I dried it out and got it working. The screen is still cracked but I don't want to repair it if I can't remove their account. It's not locked but the person who gave me it is still logged in and I can't wipe without their password. It is still on ios 10
I read a bunch of posts on here where they want to bypass the icloud lock, but mine is not locked I just can't log them out.

Can I do a restore using the ipsw and erase the phone and remove their account without their password? Or any better way to log out without their password? Or is this considered icloud locked? I'm not an iPhone user, they gave me it to tear apart.
I am already disliking iphones :(

If it isn't iCloud locked you should be able to plug it into the computer and restore it from iTunes even without the password.

If by password, you mean the password associated with the Apple ID of the user, then no matter HOW you wipe the phone you will be asked for the Apple ID and password when setting up. Additonally, iTunes will ask for the Apple ID password to restore if Find My iPhone is on.

You are assuming OP means PIN code I think. Any password asked for will be the Apple ID password and if Find My iPhone is on…

Sounds like stolen or found to me. Some stranger was not going to give another stranger a phone. If it wasn't a stranger then it would be somebody the op knew and if that was the case why couldn't the op just ask the person he got the phone from.

What really p!sses me off is that they all think the best place to go is the jailbreaking part of the forum, this part of the forum is nothing to do with stuff like that. If it were we would have a member called CIA here asking about it.

Yeah, 'cause jailbreaking is illicit and that's the kind of stuff we jailbreakers deal with and know how to do is hack stuff, right?
