Have just patched this machine to Mojave, and Software Updater is telling me I can update to Ventura!
Without ploughing through everything on here, I'm pretty sure this would not get off the ground, but as there's nothing in this but fun, I'm tempted to let it run!

Maybe first try an OCLP-aided Monterey to see how it fares with it before taking the leap to Ventura?

Same answer as usual:

The more recent the macOS version is the more Apple and third party apps and even some OS tools use metal.

Just replace the GPU and everything will be easy. Using the stock GPU will not get you that far.

Indeed, Catalina was glitchy for that reason. Upgrade plans do include a new GPU, alongside memory, CPU, and SSD. What puzzles me is why the app store even offered me the upgrade. Something I checked in the patch list?
