Ok, I'm usually not one to complain about Apple products because they are generally very reliable and awesome. But the reception after the update seems to have made my reception much worse.

Seriously, I live in a San Francisco residential area and guess what happens when I want to call my friend while in a totally normal open (no tall building) area....."no service" for at least over two miles. If any service, it's an un-dialable single bar which the call doesn't even go thru. I had to reset my phone to get it to work. O, did I forget to mention that it suddenly went from 1 bar to full bars w/ EDGE, then faster than lightning, jumped to 3G w/ full bars then back to 3. I mean, wtf is going on here.......this is truly becoming a hindrance...

I hear ya. I thought it was just me but my brand new iPhone (just updated yesterday to 2.0.2) jumps around a little. I did find that I shutoff 3G and when I turned it back on then it came up as No Service. I ended up rebooting the iPhone and then it came back fine. Havn't had any issues since. One thing I've learned is that every phone has it quirks and issues. At least with the iPhone the software can be updated to try to fix the issues that they can take care of. With most phones you are out of luck.

Same thing happened to me in a spot where I normally always get reception. Resetting the phone, a 2G phone, generally fixes the problem for me but sometimes that doesn't even work, forcing me to borrow someone else's phone or use a pay phone. Hopefully the next software update squashes this problem for good.

Same thing happened to me at LAX - showed no service for 45 minutes, which I just couldn't believe. Finally I did a reset and it went back to normal immediately, and hasn't happened again.

I've been getting the same thing, however its been since 2.0.1 and I think it is actually AT&T trying to configure their network. As my mom with an AT&T tilt has the same reception as me.
