I have an external hard drive that i use to store movies and tv shows i have downloaded. However for the last 5 or so days i have been unable to copy from my internal harddrive to my external The message that comes up is this one: The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "(file name.avi"could not be read or written. (Error code -36)

Please help! i posted this under mac help, but no one got backto me with useful information. Please tell me you guys will! :)

Run Disk Utility (In Applications/Utilities), choose the external hard disk on the left hand side and then on the right First Aid > Repair Disk.

You may also want to boot from your Leopard or Tiger DVD and run Disk Utility to do the same for your boot drive. It is unclear from your description exactly what the problem drive is.
