iPhone Error. Can't get out of recovery mode, Iphone 3G.

Hello, I have an Iphone 3G which I got from England and unlocked it. Recently I updated it to 4.0.1 and everything was fine. Then I updated it to 4.2.1 and ever since it has been in recovery. I have tried almost everything. Recboot, Tiny Umbrella, redsnow, still nothing. irecovery doesn't recognize the device. I have tried restoring it using DFU still no luck.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Does it have the iPad baseband ? (6.15.xx)

If so, get rid of it.

Once on 5.13.xx, if it is IMEI unlocked, put it in DFU mode and restore it to 4.2.1
