Hi, all:

So, I'm trying to install XP on my new Macbook. It's a full version of XP, Service Pack 2...should be compatible. Anyway, I partitioned the drive, gave about 30 gigs of space to Windows, partitioned, ran the windows setup...it goes through its process, asks to restart the computer.

When it asks me if I want to run OS Leopard or Windows, if I select Windows I receive a message that says Disk error, hit any key to restart. It won't let me even do that, it just freezes and I have to power off...If I do nothing and let the computer boot up it does that as well...if I hold down option and select the Mac HD, my computer runs fine. It shows that windows installed on the drive, just can't get it to work. Haven't been able to find much advice on the web because it seems like it should be a fairly easy process. During the XP setup process, I have been sure to choose the part of the drive I partitioned. Any guess as to what's going on?

Thanks

Siron

Sounds like it didn't install properly. Try reinstalling and select the Clean Install option and reformat the partition. Or go into Disk Utility and click on Erase for that partition, name it WINDOWS XP, format to FAT32, pop the Windows disk in, restart holding down the C key to boot from the disk.

got it to work--thank you! now, i'm having trouble getting my wireless setup. seems easy enough--just so used to it already being ready for XP. this is a laptop, so all i'm trying to do is get it to detect my existing network.

thanks
