Error redeeming codes

This is the 3rd time that I have gotten this message when I tried to redeem a code for an app. Has anyone encountered this error, know why this happens or know of a fix? My ipad is a wifi version stock, non jb'ed.

I have. Although I was not able to confirm it, at the time, I assumed it was because the code was already used. I tried another code, and it went through.
