Error: Stopped - 'Filter' failed

I am getting the error "Stopped - 'Filter' failed" when printing to my USB printer while using Microsoft Remote Desktop. The printer in question, a Canon imageClass MF236n, prints fine when I'm printing from macOS but I get this error when I'm logged in to Remote Desktop. I have another printer, also a Canon, that prints fine when I am logged in but it is wireless so I'm thinking it's something to do with the USB connection. Anyone have suggestions?

I experienced the same error after upgrading from Mojave to Monterey. I have a Lexmark printer connected via USB to an iMac. After unsuccessfully trying various actions found around the Web, I ended up downloading a fresh copy of the printer driver software from Lexmark's website. Now that the "new" driver is installed, I'm able to print as before.

What application are you trying to print from? Another user here is reporting the same problem with trying to print .PDFs from Preview. Perhaps there is something common going on here.

I am just now seeing this, sorry! It happens when I print from anything other than PDF.
