what do i do?

it downloads it completey and it goes to 100% but before it can do anything else this message comes up

Hmm, it's just your network connection that was being inactive. Like stated in the message you attached there, make sure your Internet is actually being connected and is working.
 
Good idea is to check if it has downloaded completely. Check that under user/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates (as per pic) It should be 246.4 MB. Close iTunes, unplug your phone - reboot if need be then fire up iTunes again. Plug in your phone and try again. Hope this helps!
