I have a MP 1.1.

Is it feasible to just run an eSATA cable direct from the sockets on the motherboard, out through a removed PCI slot cover to an external eSATA drive enclosure?

Thinking it might avoid the need to buy an eSATA card.

Otherwise, will this work?

NewerTech MAXPower eSATA 6G PCIe 2.0 Controller Card

Thanks

flathead,

I did do a search, using the limited knowledge I had of what I'm after: eSATA, Motherboard, cable, macpro 1.1 ...SEARCH.

I didn't include "card" or "bracket" in my search as I was thinking I could maybe just run a cable straight from board to external. My bad.

So, I thank you for your smart remarks and yes, I did google up some answers once I put the correct terms in. I beg a thousand pardons sir. No sir, don't hit me. Please sir, stop.

Never mind, I'll just go buy an express card from someone who knows more about them than I do.

Cheers to everyone else on here. :D

(There's always ONE isn't there...?)

smokeweed,

I didn't make smart remarks but gave you the solution to your problem. Instead of reiterating what I found in those search results, I presented them to you in a constructive and polite manner.

Yeah, fair enough.

I took it the wrong way as it was so brief.

Perhaps a "Been discussed here before. Try searching..." before your answer might have given it some context.

I'm cool.

Smokeweed.
