I received my iPhone 12 Pro Max today and i wanted to set it up as new so I deleted the plan from my old iPhone.

However, when I try to scan the qr-code of the esim on the Website, I get an error message on the iPhone „mobile plan cannot be added“ and in the background it shows the the totally unrelated number of my work phone (also an iphone with the same appleID) and „cannot be transferred“. I am not trying to transfer that number????

also it still shows the number from the ESim on my old iPhone even after completely wiping that phone. It says „no sim“ but no way to delete it

any idea what to do?

I’m having the same problem as I can’t get my esim from Verizon to transfer over to the new phone. Verizon is completely lost as well.

finally reached a competent person on the phone today. The issue was that they never erased the old QR-Code and on top of it forgot to activate the new code. It is working for me now.

Still strange that it initially tried to activate my phone number from WORK which has nothing to do with that iPhone or carrier, just sharing the same AppleID. That part seems to be a bug from apple. I solved it by logging out from the other iPhone.

I am unable to activate my ESIM on my new iphone 12 pro switched from iphone 11 pro. This is my verizon business account. Reps. have no clue on this and waiting since Nov 17th. I am waiting on my sales rep. to add 5g ESIM to my profile and she does not know how to do it.

Any eSIMs or physical SIMs that are on a phone that is logged in with your Apple ID will show up in the transfer list as options to transfer when you tap "Add Cellular Plan." Only the eSIMs will be transferable usually, however, some carriers support converting a physical SIM to eSIM directly on your phone. This is why your work number appeared in the list. Also, if you hadn't deleted the eSIM from your old phone, you would have been able to transfer it via this screen to your new phone without any interaction from your carrier.

Yeah, since you deleted your old eSIM, they'd have to have provisioned a new one for you using the EID of your eSIM before scanning the QR code would work. But again, your work SIM showing up isn't a bug. It's attached to your Apple ID.

But I scanned the QR-Code from my personal phone carrier to add the plan again but instead it tried to add the carrier from my work phone and then failed when I scanned the code. Why did it try to add my work sim as a esim if I scan a code of my private number

That's how it's supposed to work but that wasn't my experience. I had Googled ahead of time to see what the process should be and everything said "tap Add Cellular Plan, select the service line, and it adds." Well, no, it wasn't that easy for me and I don't know why. 🤷‍♂️

I did not delete the Verizon eSIM from my old phone (iPhone 11). It did show up on the new phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max) under "Add Cellular Plan" as expected but it said it couldn't be transferred. I had to call Verizon. The guy was hesitant to help because I was calling from my old phone (albeit from the other, non-Verizon line on the physical SIM) and he insisted the old phone needed to be powered off. Buddy, this isn't 1986 and I don't have a landline to call from so we're going to need to make do with the situation we have. Eventually he agreed to "try it and see." He entered the IMEI into their system and then the line popped up on the new phone so I could add it.

If anyone needs to contact Verizon for this, do not open the link that they text to you for the virtual assistant. It can't help you and if you open that link, it will disconnect the phone call so you lose your place in line and need to call again. I discovered that the hard way.

Hmm. I thought it was a completely Apple side thing but I guess not. Verizon IMEI restricting SIMs I guess?
