I think it is with china patent problem in it.

"Not all carriers support Apple SIM and eSIM. See your carrier for details. Not available in China."

What do you think?

That’s why they have built one of the new iPhones with two physical SIM trays for the Chinese market. I think it was the XR? I got the impression that eSIM isn’t active in China yet?

China (and Hong Kong) has a special version of the iPhone XS / XS Max / XR that has dual physical SIMs support.

China does have the capability of eSIM support. There is nothing technical about it or about patents.

Don’t forget China Unicom supported the Apple Watch cellular functions briefly. I’m sure there is a regulatory hurdle they’re working through with now, but rest assured China regulator process is very confusing and convoluted and may take years.
