I read an article on Forbes where it’s estimated d that Apple sold 5.5 Million estimated iPhone 8 and 8 Plus over launch weekend.

5.5 Million? Really? I’m sure any other phone company would love to have this issue!

5.5 Million? Regardless of what we’re used to as far as launch weekend sales... 5.5 Million is good... idc what anyone thinks or says.

5.5 Million it holds true should be considered a great launch with the X on the horizon.

Being the iPhone 8 has only been available for a week, I think the measurement is long term here, which will The iPhone 8 will outsell the iPhone X easily. So either way it's measured, the iPhone 8 will be successful in its own right, the upgrade might be slower some.

Yeah one of the biggest slams I've seen by the X buyers is "the 8 is outdated, old design."

Really? A design from Sept 2014 has no place in the tech world?

It still works... it ain't broke... glad Apple ain't fixed it yet. Love the 8 Plus... much like the 6s Plus and 6 Plus before it.

Obviously I'm not the only one.

The issue now with redesigns 10 years in is there are only so many ways to design a rectangle. At this point what else can they do except swap back and forth between 2 or 3 materials they've already used.

There is nothing wrong with the design of the 8 phones.

This I can agree with. I think over time the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will sale a lot more than the X. Especially during the holiday season

Fair point about it being a rectangle and limited to drastic changes. But they could decrease the top bezel on the 8/8+ design. Obviously they won't because that would make it too close to the X, but they could do that to change it up.

They could minimize the big ass bezels for one. I do not mind it, but that would be my only complaint with the design.

The bezels have never caused me to wish they were gone. I've used Plus phones since they were released in 2014 and when I look at it I see the rectangular screen... a nice sized one at that.

When I look at the X my eyes immediately go to the notch. I have no doubt an X purchase would leave me annoyed to no end every time I look at the phone.

That along with the fact the 8 shares the same processor as the X anyway had me going with my gut and passing on the X. I'll see what the 2nd gen has to offer next year.

Who knows

Projections of the x is 40-50 million units so not sure if that will be the case.

I agree. Definitely wasted space there but I would assume they will be gone next year. I'll let others buy the X guinea pig this year. I went with the 8 Plus because the 6 Plus had run its course. If they get rid of the notch and give us touch ID under the screen next year, I'll upgrade to the Plus sized OLED.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Today's society is all about "me, me, me" and "now, now, now". Apple released (2) new phones and many, many people (apparently 5+ million) are more than happy with something "new". The average person has little interest in waiting for the "X" ! Can they walk into a store right now and walk out with it ? Nope !

Even worse are those who have picked up an 8/8+ and will get rid of it in a couple of months after the "X" comes out.

I'm not comparing the 8+ to the X. I don't care about the notch. I just want a Plus screen device with a smaller top bezel. I've had the 6s+ and 7+ and it would be nice to have a slightly smaller footprint for this phone.

Thats not how sales figures work!

If you expect to make £20bn and you make £5bn thats crappy sales. You can't look at a figure and say "thats good sales" unless you have a reference point or an expectation to compare it to.

I can probably agree... the current state of the Plus with the bezels I'm totally fine with. More real estate wouldn't hurt as long as they don't do something stupid and throw in a notch.

Looking at my Plus now I'd say they could take 1/4 inch off the top bezel... leaving the camera in what remains of the bezel... and I'd be fine with it.
