I know there are lots of figures out there, but I'm not sure how "real" those numbers usually are. I am going to be buying my first iPhone soon and wanted to know what kind of battery life I can expect.

I send/receive 100-150 texts a day. I surf the web for 30-45 minutes. I am on the phone for probably 30 minutes. Can I expect to make it through the whole day?

I'd say it probably wouldn't last you the whole day with that kind of usage, without the web browsing I think you'd be fine, but with high text/phone usage and then web browsing I think you'll find it won't last you the whole day... I don't send anywhere near as many texts and don't make a lot of phone calls, but when browsing the web I tend to find I can watch my battery percentage drop rapidly... I expect someone will be able to give you a more accurate answer but my guess would be no.

I'm going to assume that you're talking about a 3GS here. I would say you absolutely would make it through the day with that type of usage - that's not excessive at all (well maybe the texts are a bit high but whatever). Thirty minutes of calls and 30-45 minutes of web browsing is only about an hour of usage (you don't say if your web browsing will be Edge, 3G, wifi, all of the above etc though). Regardless, you should have no problems with that type of usage.

Speaking of Battery Life, we can expect to replace the unit or send it in within 2 years to replace the battery.

Most of my web surfing will be done over wifi. I guess I will just bring a charger to work, no big deal, I have to do it with my blackberry now.

portable charger ?

Maby time to think about portable charger/case for your cellphone? Something like BeamBox MiLi Power Pack, Novothink Surge or Smart Cover ? My choice is Surge.

It REALLY depends on your location in regards to the AT&T towers and how good the signal is.

I get noticably better battery life at my brother-in-law's house than I do at mine, and I have 5 bars at each. Same phone, different answers depending on the house.

So it's really, really hard for anyone to give you a good answer.

Get a car charger first and charge on the way TO and FROM work. Try that for a few days and see how it goes. If that doesn't do it, get another charger for work later, but I suspect that just a car charger and bed-side charger might be good enough. The phone charges remarkably fast. Even if you're low at the end of the work day, that ride home will give you a good boost for the rest of the evening until you go to bed.
