I recently purchased a 15" 2.4 Ghz, Glossy Screen MBP, I ordered it at about 8 pm on August 7th. The estimated "Ship By" is August 16 - 21, and the "Delivers By" is August 20 - 24. Is there anyway I could get it before then??? I called Apple yesterday about it, and they said that orders get shipped eariler than expected sometimes. I start school on the 20th so I desperatly need it before than. Can anyone share any stories when they got their computer earlier than estimated?

It also depends where you live.

I'm up here in Canada, and it looks like my MBP is stuck in Customs for the weekend. Guh. It's even missing Apple's projected arrive-by date by a day.

If you're in the US though, you shouldn't have a problem.

I ordered a 2.2 on Jul 30th and it just went prepared for shipment today. You may have better luck with the 2.4, especially if it's stock, but it very well might take the full amount of time, especially since you ordered the day new macs were released. I'm sure they get more orders those days than others.

Back when I went to school we survived without laptops.

For 13 years in my case, so 4 days should be ok.

Except that the notebook might be shipping to his home address, and he'd have to find a way to get it to his dorm before he really needs it.

And when was the last time you went four days without a computer (excluding repairs or special circumstances)? "Back in my day" stories don't exactly help the OP here.

OP, keep calling and tracking your notebook. Sometimes when you keep on them, they'll do more to make sure it arrives on time. If nothing else works, then plan a trip on your first weekend to come back and pick up the notebook, or have your parents drive down and bring it to you. I hope you're not living too far from home...that would really be bad.
