Ethernet plugged in with Wi-Fi on

Okay. If I have my Wi-Fi enabled on my Mac and I then plug in an ethernet cable connected to the same router. it will show under my network settings that I am connected by both ethernet and wi-fi. Any way to tell what connection method it is using to communicate with the router?

It prioritises the one that is higher in the list.

The one at the top of the list is what is being used.
