So recently I’ve returned to my campus , which uses Ethernet ports , so I got a adapter for my MacBook Air 2017 in 2018 when I first arrived, it’s a Kanex usb 2.0 Ethernet adapter , it’s been working fine for the past few years, but after the big Sur update , it doesn’t allow me to connect to the internet as it says each time that it’s using a automated IP address , and that my computer does not have a IP address , but strangely when I go to windows 10 on bootcamp, it works perfectly, baring in mind that I initially used the on Mac OS only and only later got windows

another thing I should mention is that , I had used another Ethernet adapter at some point as I misplaced this one , there were connecting issues after that when I used my original one but they came and went , this time it’s not working completely on MacOS

I tried that , but nothing changed , it still uses a self-assigned IP address

Update : so i tried using another Ethernet adapter and it works properly, so I’m assuming it’s a driver issue or some incompatibility with MacOS 11.5
