Since some days I get the following message on different websites (using safari). Since this is new I don't know whether it is right or whether there might be something wrong.

It's not related to Safari, it's the web page that is giving that notification, as mandated by EU data protection guidelines.

You'll see the notification dialog varies slightly from site to site, but the basic principle is always the same: the site notifies you of its use of cookies, and asks for your consent.

I see. I just thought it's strange because the same sites did not trigger these messages a few days ago.

I'm guessing the sites might be hosted in countries that have just recently ratified the directives. Or they are hosted outside EU, but have recently decided to comply with the directives anyway. Hard to say really, without knowing what the sites in question are.

Anyway, nothing is wrong. (Well, unless you take in account the existance of the annoying and useless notifications in the first place. They can be removed with some browser extensions...)
