European iPhone unlocked in 6 months by law

Has anyone else picked up on the fact that the european model has to be unlocked to all carriers within 6 months because of the laws we have over here....so, does this mean there is a firmware update in the future for the euro iPhone which will allow any SIM to be placed in the phone, and will we see an influx of eBay iPhones from Europe going Stateside ???

Hmmm, Are you sure this law will hold effect with a product that belongs to a company in the United States???
