It looks like EVE should work on the new MacBook Airs
(especially if I bootcamp)

Intel HD 3000 is what the new airs will have isnt it?

here are the requirements from the EVE website

"Minimum System Requirements:

The client does not run on a PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Macintosh Machines. laptops or Mac Minis equipped with Intel graphics chipsets such as the GMA950 or X3100. Versions of the Macbooks and Mac Minis with Nvidia graphics chipsets are however supported.
Supported hardware is MacBook Pro laptops, Mac Pro machines and iMacs. All these machines have to meet the following minimum requirements below:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo with at least 2.0 Ghz speed
OS: Mac OS X 10.6.7 or higher.
Video: ATI HD2400, Nvidia 9400GT, or Intel HD 3000 or higher with at least 256 MB VRAM.
RAM: 2048 MB or more
HD space: 20 Gb
Network: Broadband Internet connection

Please note: Macs with the ATI X1600 or ATI X1900 graphics chipset are not supported, but may be able to still run the game by disabling the "Load Station Environment" option. "

Oh, on bootcamp. Well I run the game with ATI X1600 which is not officially supported so anything more powerful I think will be ok.

Anyone have tried Eve on the current model? I am thinking of buying the current model just because I never come close to maxing my CPU on my current 13" 2010 MBP, but I do max the graphics whenever I play a game.

Not sure why everyone is excited about next Update...

Enjoy the intel's GPU performance. That GPU is not getting into my house. I am waiting for next update in Spring 2012 for IVY processor with Ati or Nvidia Card.

I'll wait the first benchmarks. I'll gladly pass on the better GPU if the new model runs cooler and more silent.

Nothing wrong with HD3000 on OS X side, and considering the space limitations of the 3 out of 4 configs available, not many people will be using bootcamp.

You are never going to get anything mid to high level GPU wise in these machines, they arent meant for graphically intensive tasks or gaming, they are for productivity on-the-go. Expect Apple to stick with integrated graphics for the long run with these, as they'll most likely look to continue improving on things like battery life and portability over graphics performance.

The OP asks specifically about EVE and the refreshed MBAs and the thread still heads toward derailing into Intel vs nVidia IGP. Great.

It's not like there are a billion other threads fistincuff-ing that topic, right?

EDIT: I really do wonder what the possibilities for EVE and the future Incarna are with the upcoming MBA. Pew-pew wise I'm mostly the idiot grinding L4 missions in T2 frigs for er... "fun" (it is!).

EDIT2: I'm not super hopeful after reading the official mac forums but then again I'll be damned if I remember the last time I played any pc game with smooth fps (crappy system), so I might give it a shot anyway, whenever I get my hands on an 11" SB MBA.

I am trying to find out how the current one performs. The new one should be around there but a bit lower I guess.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I wont buy the day it launches.. I'll wait for some benchmarking.. (I may end up getting a 15" MBP instead but really want the lightness of the mac book airs)

Dont give up on the air just for Eve. Buy a cheap PC if you have the room or look for a used gaming laptop. Chances are you will love the air longer than Eve.
