While setting up my Studio Max the resource sapping CC processes in addition to those of Lightroom caught my attention (in terms of causing performance issues with an otherwise snappy hardware platform).

Ripping out all of the extraneous and useless Creative Cloud syncing process parasites made a huge improvement in my LRC 11.2 experience...

Download and install LR 5.2 and/or LR 11

Execute and update to latest version(s)

Open Activity Monitor and kill the following services:

Adobe Desktop Service
CCLibrary.app
CCXProcess.app

Have a look at the following folders. If they contain .plist files with Adobe in their name, move them to trash::

/Library/LaunchDaemons

/Library/LaunchAgents

[home_folder]/Library/LaunchAgents

Download and run the Adobe creative cloud cleaner tool

Select Creative Cloud and Adobe Credentials

Remove both.

Restart the machine.

Execute LR 52/LR 11 and verify CC does not appear in the menubar and no extraneous processes started in Activity Monitor

I would be anxious to improve my LR performance, but does this remove any functionality from Lightroom or impact it in any way other than speeding up processes. My Studio Mac is arriving soon.

edub - curious if your solution worked, is still working...
Hi @fredrain

Yes- working like a CHAMP on the Studio Max. So much more responsive without the extaneous process pollution.

Did the same on my i5 intel MBP 13" that still runs (legally licensed) LR 6.14 perpetual version with the few required 64-bit CC bits to play nice with Catalina.

Average CPU temps between 28-36 C at idle with some browser windows and LR open on this system!

Does any of this cause any issues when you run CC apps?

I don't run CC apps... just Lightroom 11 locally (which has some parasitic CC components bundled in automatically, that can be nuked from orbit).

I also have all the firewall filtering rules in place to block their obtrusive & incessant phoning home (for absolutely no reason when executing legally licensed perpetual "desktop" apps).

Ahh, ok. I do have to keep Illustrator and InDesign running, but I definitely don't appreciate all the parasites either. Not sure there's too much I can do about it, unfortunately.

Open a ticket with support and see what the have to say... there may be a way to squelch a lot of it- particularly if you are not using their cloud resources for other purposes.

Getting the whole of CC compiled for Silicon would help immensely. Its the only thing left using Rosetta here

Agreed. Still runs great on Intel for my hack pro-sumer purposes... some day it will be all M1.

I've held massive disdain for Adobe development for many years. Going to jettison all if it soon.
