Every device should get '3D Touch' for control centre...

The reason we can't have long press instead of 3D Touch on the home screen is due long press being used for the deletion and arranging of apps. Long pressing on the control centre does nothing, so why can't Apple add it to non 3D Touch devices (including ALL iPads...).

Another example, Live Photos as wallpaper. While these devices can't take Live Photos, they can view them in the Photos app; and seeing as long pressing on the lock screen does nothing, why can't they let us see them?

I find it silly to the nth degree that Apple think forcing people to upgrade to get these 'features' is justifiable. It's, as Jony Ive would say, unapologetically retarded lol

It especially pisses me off that I don't get these new features on my 9.7 iPad Pro, considering that it is newer then the iPhone 6s... I'm sure Apple will release a 3D Touch iPad Pro soon to get people to want to upgrade again. I get the SE, because it was meant to be a low cost device.

I'm not sure people are really thinking this out. The problem with long press as a "replacement" is two-fold: -

- Long press can only emulate a single depth
How could long press emulate peek and pop? Based on time? Not practical since you if you choose say, 1 second as the cutoff then you will always end up popping any message more than a few words long.

What about timing for the torch? Low, medium, bright on a 1 second timer. Do you really want to turn activating the torch into a rhythm game?


-Long press is already used in multiple places
On 3D Touch devices you can use 3D Touch they keyboard for the cursor right? Long press already has a meaning on the keyboard; alternative glyphs.

Same issue with long press on icons for 3D Touch actions. It already has a meaning.
