Every year apple to release the public beta of macos Im like:

- Nah im NOT!!! gonna upgrade this time! too much troubles!

- Let me watch some keynotes on youtube! But no install!

- So many new features & improvements! But not worth the beta! Im not a developer and I don't have a backup machine!

- Perhaps start from beta 3?

- How about register the beta program first then see what other people say on Macrumors before jumping into beta 2? Um.

Beta 1 Releases:

- Ahhhh fark it I got the backup. just do it.

after many betas:

- I swear to god I'll never do this next year! Fark Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite/El capitan/Sierra/High Sierra/Mojave/Catalina betas!

Anyone with me?

In 15 years, I've never installed a Mac OS beta and don't plan to either.

There's more interesting stuff in the world to direct FOMO tendencies towards!

Never install OS betas, and even once they’re released I tend to wait a few weeks to see the reviews and what’s broken.

Then I’ll install it on one of my lesser used machines (2012 Mac Mini), and try that for a while before putting it onto three others (a MacPro 5,1, 2015 iMac, 2015 Mac mini), and maybe 6 months in I’ll put it on my ‘mission critical’ machine (2019 iMac).

You must be responsible for some serious **** with your "mission critical machine".

I pretty much upgrade every year. There was only one year that stuff was so broken I had to revert. Can't remember which year that was, actually.

I install the betas on an EXTERNAL "experimental" drive when they come out, as I do the release versions.

But that DOES NOT mean that I install them (or even the newer releases of the OS) onto my MAIN drive.

I PREFER to use older and "mature" versions of the OS, for stability. I PREFER to "stay behind a bit" when it comes to the day-to-day OS that I use for most things.

That's "what works" for me...

Yeah, I'm Pretty sure you have more interesting stuff to do such as visiting a forum about beta OS that you never installed.

There are degrees. Reading about something every so often is a different ballgame to daily immersion.

I'm not trying to be antagonistic. The original post just sounded like FOMO

I have not had many problems with previous beta versions of MacOS but Catalina has been quite unstable for me. I find myself restarting my laptop at least daily in order to get it working properly. Thankfully, I installed Catalina on a separate partition just to test it out and am back to Mojave full-time till the stable release.
