Not everyone wants a MBP!

iMac M1 Pro option??
Mac mini M1 Pro option??
Mac Studio M1 Pro option??

Where da Pro'es at?  aint gonna get me going d' other way

Let’s hope with the rumored ‘quad Ultra’ in a Mac Pro release at WWDC, apple will give us the M1pro chip set to replace the original M1 in the low end models

Apple likely puts their limited wafers in higher margin products first. It’s common business sense. If you want Pro performance, you need to pay a premium for it.

Max Tech did a teardown of a Studio Ultra. The Ultra SoC is massive, about four times a Ryzen CPU. They have heatsinks on both sides of the chip in the Studio.

yes exactly, but give me a choice- the only current M1Pro choice is buying a MBP- I wanna desktop

I watched the whole video and was thinking to myself, how is he going to put that thing back together again. I've done some gnarly MacBook Pro teardowns when I was younger but I leave it to the Apple Techs today. The other thing is that you could wind up with a $4,000 brick if you make a big enough mistake.

The Pro does not belong in a thin, fanless laptop because it will overheat and throttle. I could throttle the 13 Air doing the kinds of things which don't even turn the MBP fans on. An M2-Pro Air will actually be slower than an M2 Air due to throttling.

RAM density is increasing so the modules can fit those and 32GB is possible if Apple chooses to adopt it.
The RAM packaging on the M chips is proprietary but the chips inside are not

The M# won't get 32Gb until the base M# is no longer 8GB, possibly in the M3, probably in the M4, but not in the M2.

The RAM specs of the different chips have just been established, that's not going to change for several generations.

maybe, maybe not ... I do believe that we will see 32GB options (on M2) for iMac and mini for sure, MBA probably not and the new entry MBP who knows

If a Mac has the thermal capability to handle a Pro, it seems pretty reasonable to give an option for a higher spec chip. Just charge whatever it costs. At this point does market segmentation need to be driven by the device? Just pay for the performance you need in whatever device suits you best.

I can see it being this way now, to give the MBP the best chip for its launch… and maybe because of chip shortages.
