That’s thing with a fold line the UI is just so polished.
I can see why people prefer it in the foldable line
Yea don't make the same mistake I did. My Fold 6 is looking all lonely on my nightstand. Give me OneUI and s-pen on the Open and it's damn near the perfect device. Really like OxygenOS but OneUI is just the most polished OS for a foldable. As far as hardware goes I prefer the Open hands down. But that's only half of the equation. Gonna take a couple weeks to decide which I prefer to use. I don't like the appearance of OxygenOS in many ways like notifications and the notification tray. The UI looks like they tried to go one way Pixel and the other iOS. But it is still really fun to use so far.
I'm glad the OnePlus Open works for you, sincerely and for others too.
I'm bothered across a few forums that the Open isn't featured as widely as a full walk through of its UI and unique offerings. Going back to the launch, we saw more time focused on the hardware and it's rigorous testing. All we really saw of software were static screens (most of what I've seen in forums, the Doc Picker, MultiTasking difference of 3 apps (2 side by side, 1 below/above just slightly in view), and that's about it.
The mistake in their direction, is right there in the name: OxygenOS. It's NOT an OS it's a UI through and through. And it looks TOO much like iOS,foe the life of me Don't see why/reason.
Every year from Samsung we much more improvements in it's software offerings, the synergies between it's UI and existing software stack and it's fluid ease of use continues to improve. Like @TheGame106 Said above (exactly how do we rag that guy with spaces in his name when MR doesn't respect spaces anyhow? Lol) the polush of OneUI is JUST SO GOOD.
Until you update last week's Gemini upgrade. That ROYALLY PI$$ED ME OFF!
Google is push FAR TOO hard where they SHOULD NOT be into the UI's of competitors and against users preferences! And I hope a) Samsung prevents this on OneUI 7 onward and b) the US, EU and many other country supreme courts put a stop to it!
I carefully and pain staking went theiugh EVERY bit of minuscia of Gemini and Google Assistants' settings believe granting Gemini as my assistant on my S23 seeing how Bixby has fallen as hard as Siri has and fails to recognize my hails. Less than 30 mins of testing Gemini for hails I was quite impressed. Then 1hour later while working with Samsung Tech Suport over Buds2 Pro warranty to process repairs, they sent a text and when I clicked the link to open up an wmail BOOM 💥 I notice the UI was very different in the half screen popup reply. It didn't respect ability to attach a doc just a link from OneDrive and off it went.
1. Gemini tried to set Google Messages as my SMS/mMS/RCS! It failed cause I have it disabled, despite Samsung Messages as my default it would've changed that
2. Gemini changed my default email handler to Gmail which is Samsung Mail. I HATE Gmail and only use it cause Samsung implements it for ads and deals - Y I do NOT know! I've previously used Gmail when it fiesta debut back in college foe 2yrs and then next 3 ONLy to increase storage from deals like Samsung offering DropBox/Box.net free storage increase when signed into a new Sammy. The hack was off to BestBuy ans sign into EVERY displayed Samsung eith your Gmail confirm the upgrade email then sign out ans delete from accounts (good times lol). I purged use of Gmail since 2010!
3. Browser default homepage went to Google.com.
4! The most SNEAKY BULL$#!^ I've ever saw and a PURE breach of privacy was turning Sync of my contacts ON to Google anssyncing them. I HAVE NEVER EVER set this fromday one and EXPLICITY DISABLED this! Yet Gemini enabled this AFTER I ensured it remained off during walk-thru setup! The ignorant part on Google is they do NOT follow PIM principles that have existed since PDA days for EVERY smartphone platform ever since: Epoch (Symbian's roots since PsionPDA & Ericsson R234 (?), PalmOS (ans HamdSpring as well), WindowsCE, J2ME/MIDP2 Feature Phones, BlackBerryOS, SymbianOS (Nokia's S60, UIQ, etc), JavaOS (heavily used by Motorola in Japan/China way back), DangerOS (Sidekick/HipTop), Microaoft PocketPC (Think Comoaq/HP iPaq & HTCs OEM European carrier models & US slef branded phones) & Smartphone Edition (Smaung BlackJack, HTC H620, Motorola Q/Q2), iOS, AndroidOS (including Google Service*), BlackBerry 10, WindowsMobile and the defunct LinuxOS attempts. Note: * is this. Google REMOVED Google Contacts as part of Android that uses Google services. This means I have to download an App I do NOT wish and set NEVER to Sync in the 1st place to REMOVE contacts from Google's nefarious data-mining practices! This should be considered illegal of Google to enforce Gemini to enable Sync against users' wishes - ESCPICIALLY since I've never installed Google Contacts!!
^ this infuriates me!
Yeah; that's the pull I have with the AWU... I really like it; it's the perfect size for my hands/wrists but also I do use it every day for training and tracking my movement (all part of maintaining a bodyweight drop since I was unwell this time last year - down 30kg now)!
I know the watches are much the same; but it's their style differs a lot and the AWU suits what I want out of a watch really... Plus theres the Apple comfort zone 😂 Gad dammit; I canni get oot Captain 😂
I've had the Apple Watch from Nike+ S3 to the AW S8. I got really bored of how stagnant it became - a bieatique collection item, not a real fitness item. Were STILL stuck with the same exercises ONLy curated by Apple - 1/4 more every 4 years roughly. That's a BAd thing to rely on 3rd party apps to get better exercises. Sure you can do that on Google's partner watched BUT Samsung HAS:
1.Multiple workouts (ita own as well as) many featured from BodyBuilding.com and many many other global workout top choices of professional real modern exercise, stretching yoga etc routines!
2. Featured in-house routines from stars (within S.Korea for home front fans of course; may not make a difference to us in N.America but they're doing it!)
3. They have a meal order service that's in Sync to your workout history and upcoming workouts selected and trending - such as fat lost body composition, mass gaining, cutting, etc)
This is HUGE and I hope they work woth partners here such as Factor, HeloFrsh Greens+ etc to implement here.
This is a lot you're missing - even just the refreshing wide variety of workouts offered for free! I have no idea why Samsung doesn't advertise this.
