Hi

I've started to experience this issue out of nowhere on my macbook pro 14 m1 pro, that everything freezes for a second and it happens every minute or two. It's super frustrating and I don't know what to do. I'm using my macbook plugged in into doc and other monitor and keyboard with mouse. No changes have been made to the setup or software. You can see on the video how it happens, always the same.
How to fix this?

There's a small chance the console might give some hints. The best approach is to review the logs in the terminal for the short time window around the freeze. But the graphical console application could also work if you have some patience. Just leave it streaming and quickly after the delay pause it. Then scroll back and look for errors.

-- EDIT --

You say everything freezes. I assume you mean more than just the mouse.

Yea for example when I have CS:GO on the screen freezes too.
Can you tell me how to do that with the console and logs?

Ok i managed to do that, these are the errors that pop up.

It's soooo much easier at the terminal. If you're not comfortable there let me know. Here are the instructions for that.

Pay attention to the clock in the menu bar - ensure it's showing the seconds. Try to remember the starting time and ending time of the delay (roughly). Say you're doing this today and you see the freeze happens at 09:20:50 and ends at 09:20:52. In the terminal type

log show --start "2022-09-13 09:20:49" --end "2022-09-13 09:20:53"

If you feel like sharing here you can just use your mouse to select the output and copy it. Then you can post it here.

Apple does take care to protect your private information; where it deems parts of messages are sensitive, it replaces them with "<private>".

I don't have high hopes that something interesting will be there, but there's a chance.

Funny thing - maybe a coincidence.

I see that you don't show the seconds in your clock. At the moment of your freeze in the video the time advanced from 17:00 to 17:01. I wonder if it always happens at the minute mark.

I manage to do that, 20 seconds time. A lot to read but if it tells you something. I can copy only the errors because there is too much of it.

Why don't you try temporarily disabling the problematic things to see if the problem disappears. Maybe that means:

Uninstalling scrollreverser and quitting/disabling/uninstalling OneDrive. Then also disconnect display 2. If the problem disappears then reverse things one at a time till the problem comes back.

Are you even using scrollreverser and OneDrive anymore? They seem to be failing in some way. It might not be related to your freezes but it seems bad. Might have to dig into your LaunchAgents folders and clean out the cruft.

Without warning, your Mac sometimes got freezes for seconds to minutes or else becomes completely unresponsive, which prevents you from continuing your work. A frozen Mac appears rarely, but it indeed exists. the most common scenario: your Mac froze during apps or programs working. Or even worse, it stuck exactly when you open the desktop.

Below are a few DIY methods that you can try to fix the issue:

1. Disconnect any connected external drive
2. Force quit applications
3. Reduce clutter files
4. Restart your mac
5. Boot into safe mode
6. Update your macOS software

Hope it helps!

In my experience Macs are very bad with any misbehaving peripherals. I woke up this morning with the idea that you should disconnect everything and retest, but @kibepo73 beat me to it.
