Hello there, ihv been using osx 10.8 for last 3 years or so. Except some odds it was going ok for me... Couple of weeks back I updated my macbook pro to Yosemite... First week things were ok... However, two nights back, chrome and safari started freezing... I surfed the net to get a solution... Last 24 hours I guess I hv tried few of the solutions, still the problem occurs... From safemode I hv installed chrome (thinking its extensions are causing the problem)... I also tried clearing the PRAM, used disk utility to check hardware or file system error bla bla... the problem is still there... I feel reinstalling os may be the solution... But I'm considering it as my last action... Just wondering, if there is any mac geek who can rescue me...

So its Chrome and Safari you have an issue with, not "everything" (this is important if you want meaningful help)?

Can you look in Activity Monitor and post screenshots of both the CPU and Memory tabs then we can see what is going on.

In the interim, if you reboot and DON'T start Chrome (at all), does Safari still have a problem?

Then that sounds like your HDD <may> be starting to show early signs of failure.

If you don't have a backup of the drive, get one before you do anything else.
