everything returns to main menu... reset settings didn't work

the phones just 4 days old... PLEASE HELP SOMEONE... ANYONE!

WHAT HAPPENED:
i was installing apps. from installer and kept checkin em...
after i downloaded and installed an app called 'remind me' (or something very close to that) in some time the ph hanged.

THE PROBLEM:
the phone has become EXTREMELY slow and in the middle of anything that im doing it keeps going back to the main screen where i have to slide to unlock.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED:
i rebooted several times, by holding the sleep button and centre button together for few seconds so that i could delete the app but it keeps going back to the main screen. on a couple of occassions i have reached the app and clicked uninstall and uninstalling started but in the middle it again comes to the main screen.

i have also gone to general settings and clicked on 'reset settings' after tht it changed the order of the icons in the menu but it is still VERY slow and keeps going bck to main screen in the middle of anything and everything.

PLEASE HELP!! ITS MY SISTER'S PHONE!!

solution #1: restore using itunes

solution #2: don't play around with and break your sisters stuff, especially when what you are doing is not tested and could cause data (contacts, photos etc) loss

also there is one more thing...
the phone has been unlocked and being used in another country and when i ask itunes to restore, it starts downloading updates... will apple find out tht my ph.'s been unlocked and lock it again or something like tht??

a restore WILL lock the iphone
but you can use programs to unlock it for you
