The prompt will say:

*Apple ID Password
The password for "[userid here]" needs to be updated
*

It will take me to Settings --> iCloud where I enter my password.

I never seen this before, so I am genuinely curious.

I am running iOS 9.1 on my 6S Plus.

Same issue. Started before this last ios update. Open case with Apple. Engineers are looking at it so fingers crossed.

Hmm.. Just got notice that iOS 9.2 is now available. I wonder if this fixed this, along with the iCloud backup issue. Will have to try when I get home.

I saw the message appear once after initially installing 9.2 but never again. Hopefully it stays this way.

It started on mine with 9.2 and comes up every time I plug in the charger and unplug it.

Every time?! That must be annoying!

Just updated to 9.2 a moment ago. Rebooted the iPhone aaaand.. the prompt show up again. :(

ive gotten this since iOS 9.1 and it is still happening on iOS 9.2 but so far i am not willing to completely disable my Apple ID on my iPhone to log back in. cbf resynching everything

Guess what....... It has never ever happened on any previous iOS.
Updated yesterday and now I'm plagued with this idiotic request.

I'm getting spammed with a request to enter my iCloud password on my phone now (9.2).

Change your password guys. It should go away after the change. I experienced the issue in the beta. Seems the engineers haven't figured it out.
