Everytime i try to get my contacts onto icloud.. they delete from my phone

Luckily, restoring my phone from my itunes backup brings them back, but I cannot get them to show up on icloud.

Thoughts?? Having my contacts safely on icloud in the event of anything disastrous happening is of paramount importance to me



also, creating a contact on icloud doesnt go to my phone. Yes, it is set to 'on' in settings of my phone.

meanwhile, the calendar seems to be working fine.
