Just FYI. I tried a EVGA 1660 today in my 5,1, had full boot screen.

Of course, no Mojave support for me, but I only need 3d in windows... Bringing me to my next point, hangs on Boot if I try to go into Windows.

So, full boot screen, haven't been able to load Windows.

I'll play more today.
[doublepost=1553445284][/doublepost]I have tried PRAM resets by the way. Trying to boot to windows just results in hanging at a white screen

Your gonna have to format your windows to UEFI in order for your 1660 to work, If your windows bios is legacy 1660 is not gonna work, I have a video up on this, I had a white screen also when I installed Titan RTX, Follow the instructions in the video and you can get windows to work in bootcamp

It's only a matter of time before Apple signs the 20--series drivers just like they eventually did on the 10-series and 9-series. Could this be a signal that the next Mac Pro will support Nvidia GPUs? Why else would Nvidia suddenly start supporting Mac booting on their newest cards? Maybe they are just big cheesegrater fans.

NVIDIA RTX cards supports UGA, but not Apple EFI. There a lot of differences between the two.

NVIDIA support of UGA is just enough to have Preboot-environment, nothing more.

We don’t know the reasons for UGA support, but for sure is not Mac Pros.

I understand now that hypothetical future Mac Pro support has nothing to do with the Cheesegrater boot support - unless Apple really is going to release a new cheesegrater (pls do it). However if Nvidia does support UGA even if by accident and Apple does release 20-series drivers that may be good enough for me.

Reminder: they actually did not for Mojave.
According to this [0] it took 11 months after the release of Sierra for Apple to approve the drivers, have patience the 20-series drivers will come eventually.

I'm interested in how it acts with a RX sitting next to it if you have one handy...

And everyone, I don't like encouraging spending money on unnecessary programs (but if you have it already).... it's seriously a 10 second process to swap a Bootcamp drive between Legacy and EFI with Winclone. Not sure if the other fan favorite of Carbon Copy Cloner does as well-but some programs are worth picking up for the sheer ease of use if you're going to stay in the macOS environment.

And thank you for the Bootscreen report-we can only hope for now there may be future progress, but if you do have access to a RX I'm exploring different setups myself for each OS (macOS/Win). My hope is that the RTX/newer GTX's, while running alongside a Mojave approved AMD GPU, don't display (while there are no drivers) and the RX takes lead so Mojave is usable-and in turn both RTX/RX would be usable in Windows; just like the PC 9400 GT I tested in Mojave.
