Will this card work on my Mac Pro 2006 2.66GHz Intel Xeon
I will be running Windows 7 Professional ONLY. Mac OS X is not installed on this machine.

Right now I have a NVIDIA Geforce 8800GT and its not working well with any of my games.

1. Will it work?
2. If it will work should I just buy a gaming PC for the cost of upgrading?

Kepler cards don't work in Lion, so yes, you'd be limited to Windows. I think some people have found a way to install ML and even Mavericks on MP 1.1 but I don't know much about that.

Even if you did get ML or Mavericks installed, the card wouldn't be worth it. According to Barefeats benchmarks, there wasn't much of a performance difference between the 5770 and a 5870 on a 2006 MP because the computer can't keep up. IIRC, in most benchmarks there was no difference at all. So a GTX680, which is even faster than a 5870, would be a huge waste in a 2006 MP anyway.

Only one test from few years ago, find my recent post about it with recent cards testing

Thanks guys right now I have a Nvidia 8800GT and it's just so slow. So if I get this it will work fine in windows. Are the performance issues related to the Power Supply?

I saw the benchmarks. Is this the best card I can get in my mac? I am really partial to NVIDIA.
