Hi,
I recently installed a GTX680 graphics card in my Mac Pro. It is the eVGA GeForce GTX 680 Superclocked, 02G-P4-2682-KR.
Of course in the Mac Pro it is positioned in slot 1 or 2, and hence the fan is "pointing" upwards. After a few days of using the card, which works wonderfully in OSX and in Windows 7, I started hearing a fan noise. So I took out the card, checked for dust etc., and found that the fan on the eVGA card can "move" up and down, just a few millimeters. Unfortunately enough to give off a sound when spinning around in "sunken" position. If I then "pull out" the fan, to its out-most position, it is completely noiseless.
I don't want to open up the graphics enclosure (I'm sure that'll void warranty), but before I complain to the vendor, is anyone in a position to verify my findings, or is it only my card?
I "pulled out" the fan two days ago, and have had no noise since then, so perhaps it was a fluke.
