I have a freecom ext hard drive I use to back up photos etc on my PC. I have plugged it into the mac but when I go to get Info it opnly says I can read the info and it will not let me copy my movies onto it from the mac.

Please can anyone help thanks

You need to re-format it as Fat32 or use a driver such as NTFS-3g (google that)...

Cheers

FAT32 may not be the best choice for movies, as they are more likely to be more than 4GB, but Mac OS X would be able to read and write from it. Since the Mac can't write to it, the drive is formatted as NTFS.

FAT32
  • Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
  • No individual file larger than 4GB.
NTFS
HFS
  • Read/Write HFS from native Mac OS X
  • To Read/Write HFS from Windows, Install MacDrive
  • To Read HFS (but not Write) from Windows, Install HFSExplorer
