Can anyone confirm the width of the 27" iMac? If the website is dead-on and it is 25.6" wide, I'll have 2/10th of an inch of clearance. Just want to make sure it's not even slightly wider than quoted.

Thanks!

27" Imac:

Height:
20.4 inches (51.7 cm)
Width:
25.6 inches (65.0 cm)
Depth:
8.15 inches (20.7 cm)
Weight:
30.5 pounds (13.8 kg)

These are physical dimensions.

While I don't actually know the width, isn't it a bit risky to have such a narrow clearance since the DVD drive ejects out of the left. You could damage the drive if it tries to eject a disk with only a 2/10 inch clearance!

The desk isn't an "enclosure" - it just has open shelves that are on either side of the main area where the mac would sit. Heat dissipation won't be an issue as the front, back, and 98% of the sides are open. The DVD ejection is something I hadn't thought of... I guess I need to figure out how high above the bottom of the base the DVD slot starts. Any info anyone? Thanks to all who responded above.

These are physical dimensions.

Can anyone who has a 27" confirm this. I just don't have any experience as to the accuracy of the Apple website's specs, eg. is that exact, or just close.

It just doesn't make any sense for Apple to lie about the dimensions of their products, so I think you can take that width as the truth. As for the optical drive slot, it's just about centered (maybe a little higher). Here's a picture.

Perfect - thanks. I wasn't implying that they'd lie about specs, just that some manufacturers "approximate" the physical dimensions and that little bit of estimation might cause issues in my case.

Thanks again.

Actual box dimensions

Anyone know the exact dimensions of the box it ships in?
Also, how much shorter is height without the stand?

Depth without stand?

Can anyone tell me the depth of the screen without the stand?
I'm going to use the vesa mount to put it on the wall and am trying to work out if I need a really slim mounting bracket (more expensive) to avoid it being really in my face.
Thanks.

Update: I more or less guessed most of the size was due to the bracket so I went ahead and bought the parts to wall mount it ahead of time. Now I have it on the wall I can tell you that the depth of the 27" iMac without the bracket is aprox. 6.5cm, and when you fit the the Apple VESA Mount Adapter, it adds another 2.5cm.
The original bracket that you remove weighs about 1.2kg.
